Training Programs

Samarthya Foundation for Special Education aims to develop practical, inclusive and community-oriented training initiatives for parents, caregivers, educators, volunteers, youth and other stakeholders working with or supporting Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan).

Our training approach focuses on awareness, practical knowledge, capacity building, family support, inclusive practices and pathways towards greater independence and participation.

Our Training Focus Areas

1. Parent & Caregiver Capacity Building

Families play a vital role in the development and well-being of children and persons with disabilities.

Our parent and caregiver training initiatives aim to improve understanding of disability, developmental needs, communication, behaviour, home-based support, educational planning and appropriate referral pathways.

Key areas may include:

  • Understanding developmental and disability-related needs
  • Home-based learning and support strategies
  • Communication and behaviour guidance
  • Early identification and referral
  • Accessing appropriate educational and rehabilitation services
  • Awareness of Government schemes and entitlements

2. Disability Awareness & Community Training

Our community-oriented programmes are designed to build greater understanding of disability and promote inclusion at the grassroots level.

Training and awareness sessions may be organised for rural communities, volunteers, community representatives, parents and local stakeholders.

3. Educator Orientation & Inclusive Classroom Support

The Foundation aims to support teachers and education-related stakeholders through orientation and capacity-building programmes focused on inclusive education.

These sessions may cover practical strategies for understanding diverse learning needs and creating supportive learning environments.

4. Life Skills & Vocational Readiness

The Foundation aims to promote practical skills, confidence and greater independence among Persons with Disabilities, youth and other beneficiaries.

Depending on available infrastructure, trainers and programme requirements, initiatives may include:

  • Daily living and functional skills

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Digital skills
  • Tailoring and stitching
  • Handicrafts
  • Workplace readiness
  • Basic entrepreneurship orientation
  • Other locally relevant vocational activities

5. Volunteer & Community Resource Training

Volunteers can play an important role in awareness programmes, outreach activities and community support.

Samarthya Foundation may conduct orientation sessions for volunteers covering:
