Our Story

Samarthya Foundation for Special Education was born not merely from an idea, but from a deeply personal journey of love, responsibility and determination.

The journey began in 2018, when our Chairman, a civil engineer by profession, and his wife, who now serves as the Secretary of the Trust, became parents to a daughter who was later identified with developmental challenges. As they began searching for the right guidance, education and support for their child, they also encountered a wider reality—many families of children with disabilities continue to face limited awareness, social stigma and difficulty in accessing appropriate educational and rehabilitation services.

Instead of allowing these challenges to define their daughter’s future, they chose to learn, adapt and act. Their personal experience led them to develop a deeper understanding of special education, rehabilitation, developmental support and the needs of families raising children with disabilities. What began as an effort to help their own child gradually became a larger purpose: to help other children, persons with disabilities and families navigate similar journeys with greater awareness, dignity and support.

This vision ultimately led to the establishment of Samarthya Foundation for Special Education, a registered public charitable trust committed to the education, rehabilitation, empowerment and social inclusion of Divyangjan.

Today, the Foundation aims to work across areas such as special and inclusive education, therapy and rehabilitation support, disability awareness, parent and caregiver guidance, early identification and referral, skill development, vocational empowerment and community outreach. We also seek to help families understand and access relevant Government schemes, entitlements and support services.

Our approach is rooted in a simple belief: a disability does not diminish a person’s worth, aspirations or potential. With the right support, appropriate opportunities and an enabling environment, every individual can learn, grow and participate meaningfully in society.

For us, the name “Samarthya” represents this very belief—the strength, ability and potential that exists within every individual.
