Empowering Persons with Disabilities Through Education, Rehabilitation, Skills and Community Support
At Samarthya Foundation for Special Education, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) and their families through education, rehabilitation, skill development, awareness and community-based support.
Our approach is centred on dignity, inclusion, independence and equal participation. We work to connect children, young people, adults, parents and caregivers with appropriate educational opportunities, professional guidance, rehabilitation support, Government welfare provisions and pathways towards greater self-reliance.
1. Special Education & Inclusive Education Support

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, participate and achieve his or her potential.
Samarthya Foundation aims to support children with diverse learning and developmental needs through appropriate special and inclusive education interventions. Our initiatives are designed to promote functional learning, communication, social participation, independence and meaningful inclusion in education and community life.
Support may include individualised educational guidance, learning support, functional academics, developmental activities, parent guidance, school-readiness support and coordination with relevant professionals and institutions.
Where specialised courses, programmes or professional qualifications require recognition or approval from competent authorities, such programmes shall be undertaken only in accordance with applicable statutory norms and approvals.
2. Therapy & Rehabilitation Support

Timely rehabilitation and professional intervention can make a meaningful difference in communication, mobility, independence and quality of life.
The Foundation seeks to facilitate access to appropriate rehabilitation and therapeutic support for children and adults with disabilities, depending upon individual needs and availability of qualified professionals.
Our areas of focus may include Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, psychological and behavioural support, developmental guidance and rehabilitation counselling.
We also aim to help families understand rehabilitation needs and connect them with appropriate professionals, hospitals, rehabilitation centres and specialised services wherever required.
All professional and clinical services are intended to be provided or facilitated through appropriately qualified personnel and in accordance with applicable regulations.
3. Disability Awareness & Community Outreach

Lack of information often prevents families from accessing timely support.
Through Divyangta Awareness Camps, village-level outreach programmes and community interactions, Samarthya Foundation works to improve awareness regarding different types of disabilities, early identification, education, rehabilitation, social inclusion and available Government support.
Our outreach programmes are intended to reach rural and underserved communities where families may have limited access to reliable disability-related information.
The Foundation seeks to involve educators, rehabilitation professionals, Government functionaries, community representatives and other resource persons so that families can receive practical and relevant guidance.
4. Government Schemes, Entitlements & Documentation Guidance

Many Persons with Disabilities and their families are eligible for Government schemes and support but may not know how or where to access them.
Samarthya Foundation aims to provide awareness and guidance regarding relevant disability-related Government schemes, educational benefits, welfare programmes and other available entitlements.
The Foundation may also assist beneficiaries in understanding processes relating to Disability Certificates, UDID Cards and other relevant documentation, while directing applicants to the appropriate Government authorities and authorised platforms for formal processing.
Our role is to make information easier to understand and help families identify the correct pathway for accessing services and benefits.
5. Early Identification, Screening & Referral Support

Early identification and timely referral can help children and families reach appropriate support services sooner.
Through community programmes and outreach activities, the Foundation seeks to promote awareness of developmental, educational, communication, sensory and mobility-related concerns.
Where a child or adult appears to require specialised assessment or intervention, the Foundation may facilitate appropriate referral to qualified professionals, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, educational institutions or other competent service providers.
The objective is not merely to identify a concern, but to help families understand the appropriate next step.
6. Skill Development & Vocational Empowerment

Economic independence is an important part of dignity and social inclusion.
Samarthya Foundation aims to promote skill development and vocational opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, youth and women, with particular attention to employability, livelihood development and self-reliance.
Depending upon community needs and available resources, initiatives may include computer literacy, digital skills, tailoring and stitching, handicrafts, vocational trades, entrepreneurship orientation and other livelihood-oriented training.
Our long-term objective is to help participants build practical skills that can contribute to employment, self-employment and greater financial independence.
7. Parent, Family & Caregiver Guidance

The journey of a person with disability involves the entire family.
Samarthya Foundation recognises the important role of parents, caregivers and family members in education, rehabilitation and long-term development. We therefore aim to provide families with practical guidance, reliable information and supportive counselling.
Parents may be guided regarding educational options, home-based support, rehabilitation needs, available services, Government schemes and appropriate referral pathways.
Our objective is to help families make informed decisions while promoting dignity, acceptance and confidence.
8. Assistive, Health & Welfare Support

Where resources and partnerships permit, the Foundation seeks to facilitate appropriate welfare and support initiatives for economically vulnerable Persons with Disabilities and families in need.
Such initiatives may include health-awareness activities, referral for medical or rehabilitation services, information relating to assistive devices, educational materials and other need-based charitable support.
The Foundation also seeks to collaborate with professionals, institutions, Government agencies, donors and responsible organisations to improve access to appropriate services for beneficiaries.
Our Approach
Person-Centred. Inclusive. Community-Based. Dignity-Driven.
At Samarthya Foundation, we believe that disability should never limit a person’s right to education, opportunity, dignity and participation in society. Our programmes are designed to strengthen individuals and families, improve access to reliable information and services, and encourage meaningful inclusion within the community.
